hi .. I am utilizing the 2 week test drive capabilities of the Milano theme. I noticed that there is a 2MB photo size limitation when importing images. Is this a restriction of the test drive or will it exist with a purchased version as well?

Yes, this is a limitation of our test drive. This value can be easily increased on your future hosting.

The images used for background are about 700 kb with 1680x1050 px dimensions.
